How to Take Care of Them

Basic care

The adoption of a dog cannot be the result of a whim, a passing fashion, or an impulse. Taking an animal home carries a series of responsibilities for its owner that cannot be ignored under any circumstances, so it is a decision worthy of deep thought.

Power

The canine nutrition market is very competitive and offers you a wide range of commercial dog foods. Don’t let yourself be caught only by their economic offers, as in a matter of food, you should not skimp if you want to help them fulfill their average life, which for this race is between 10 and 15 years of age.

Choose for your faithful friend a quality dry feed that adequately covers your nutritional needs, and you will have a healthy dog with a perfect and happy appearance, as the food is one of the fundamental pillars of its existence, along with veterinary care and health surveillance.

Hygiene

A neat little dog does not take long to produce an unpleasant smell and is also the perfect breeding ground for the proliferation of infections. Too frequent a toilet is also not advisable for canes, as it can destroy their natural essential oils that constitute a protective barrier for animals.

Dental hygiene

A can with a clean mouth is a candidate to be a healthy animal because poor oral health is an essential factor in the development of heart, liver, and kidney diseases.

The mouth in which the sorrow is deposited on the surface of the teeth is the most prone to the development of the periodontal disease, which can lead to loss of dental pieces, among other consequences.

All these diseases can be avoided if you get used to your staff from a puppy to a complete regular dental brushing, helping you with unique products for canes that will make your task easier.

Bath and drying

Unless your SBT is dirty, you can bathe it once every month and a half or every two months, enough to make it look perfect without any damage on a dermal level.

When you have bathed him, remove the remaining water with a towel and, in the coldest months, never let him go outside wet, so you can use an electric dryer that you will use at a not too high temperature to avoid burning him.

Brush

The Staffie coat is straightforward to keep in the best condition, a brushing two or three times a week is enough to make it look bright and glossy. To achieve this, you can help yourself with a latex mitten with which you will also be removing the dead hair and traces of dirt and dust, leaving your mantle clean.

Vaccines and ant parasitic treatments

Getting him to get the necessary doses of vaccines is a great way to make sure you’re stimulating your staff’s immune or defensive system against specific infectious diseases. A simple measure that can even save the life of your canine friend in some instances.

As for the parasites, in your hand is also the one who does not nest in their mantle, causing them from significant discomfort to possible pathologies that can be serious. Putting on pets the pipettes and antiparasitic collars you will find in specialized establishments is the best solution so that fleas and ticks do not have the least chance of settling down and raising in their hair.

Most common diseases

This canine breed is relatively healthy, but, as with the rest, its specimens may have several hereditary and genetic problems. Early detection is essential to be able to deal with some of these ailments successfully, so we recommend that, apart from being attentive to any symptoms, you go to the vet’s office every six months with your staff.

Among the diseases most common in dogs of this breed are eye problems, including cataracts, bilateral, the distichiasis or “double tab” and the atrophy progressive retinal, respiratory issues, dangerous “heat stroke” (which you can get to finish even with your life if you do not act in time) and developmental dysplasia of the hip or elbow.

Some specimens also have cleft palate and cleft lip problems. The breed is also prone to tumors.

Do not neglect the health of your dog but do not obsess with it, because the diseases mentioned here are those to which the breed may tend, but which are not to be present in all specimens.
